An operation theatre technologist forms an integral part of the hospital management team. An OTT is an allied health professional trained to manage pre and post-operative procedures and management of a patient. In the OT the technologist is involved in managing and assisting on the surgical as well as the anesthetic side. He / She is also responsible for sterilization of OT equipment’s and fumigation of OT. A technologist working on the surgical side needs to prepare the equipment as per the operative procedure. An operation theatre technologist needs to be a multitasker and also needs to have comprehensive knowledge of all the medical departments like OBS & Gynae, pediatrics, medicine etc.
